Welcome to INV NEW MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY (M) SDN. BHD., the first Li-ion battery separator factory in ASEAN.
Innovate New Materials Technology (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. was established on 18 August 2023 with a registered capital of RM2 million. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd. (Stock Code: 300568).

Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd. is one of the earliest enterprises in China engaged in the research and development of lithium-ion battery separator projects. It is also among the very few global manufacturers possessing both dry-process and wet-process separator technologies.

The dry-process lithium-ion battery separators produced by Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd.feature uniform thickness, consistent pore size distribution, high stability, no thermal shrinkage in the transverse direction, and excellent high-temperature resistance. The company offers a complete range of specifications and has made rapid breakthroughs in the power battery market. Since 2009, it has gradually gained widespread recognition from major domestic power battery manufacturers such as BYD, AVIC Lithium Battery, Wanxiang Electric, and Tianjin Lishen, capturing more than 25% of China’s power lithium battery market.

At the same time, the company is actively expanding into overseas markets, with its products certified by LGC, NEC, A123, and Saft, among others. Notably, in 2013, its dry-process separators achieved mass supply to LG Chem, a global leader in power batteries, making it the first Chinese lithium battery separator manufacturer to successfully export and break the monopoly of international giants.

Alongside the success of its dry-process separators, Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd. has continuously advanced separator technology research and development. In 2012, the company achieved mass production of PVDF and ceramic-coated separators, leading the industry in surface treatment technology. In December 2013, it also commenced the production of ultra-thin wet-process separators, making it the most influential and comprehensive lithium battery separator manufacturer in China.

With years of experience in the lithium-ion battery separator manufacturing industry, the company has assembled a team of highly skilled technical professionals. These experts specialize in separator processing, electrical automation, mechanical engineering, quality control, and equipment maintenance. Many of them have undergone years of hands-on training in production technology, international manufacturing processes, equipment maintenance, and quality management. Their expertise has been instrumental in project negotiations, equipment procurement, construction, and process development, ensuring a strong foundation for the successful implementation of the Malaysia project.

As the new energy industry continues to develop rapidly, Senior Technology Material was successfully listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2016, laying the foundation for its capacity expansion and internationalization strategy. After 20 years of growth, the company has established a global presence with eight production bases in Shenzhen, Hefei, Changzhou, Jiangsu, Nantong, Nanhai, Sweden, and Malaysia, alongside R&D centers in Shenzhen, Osaka (Japan), and Germany.

Malaysia Expansion Project

Malaysia’s strategic location, well-developed air and sea transport infrastructure, strong and stable economy, business-friendly environment, future-oriented development priorities, and highly skilled workforce made it an ideal investment destination.

In July 2023, Senior Technology Material officially signed an agreement with Padang Industrial Park, Penang, Malaysia, to establish a high-performance lithium-ion battery wet-process separator and coated separator production facility.

Economic & Employment Impact

The Innovate New Materials Technology (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. project is expected to significantly contribute to Malaysia’s local economy:

  • Upon full production, it will become the largest low-carbon separator production base in ASEAN.
  • Annual revenue is estimated to reach approximately RM10 billion.
  • Annual tax contributions are projected at RM700 million.
  • The project is expected to create over 1,500 job opportunities in Malaysia, boosting local employment and economic growth.

  • Current Status: Preliminary design and geological exploration are in progress, while equipment selection is underway.

Fifth-Generation Super Wet-Process Line

The first production line to be launched in July 2025 will be the world’s first fifth-generation super wet-process line, a high-efficiency, intelligent lithium battery separator production line co-developed by Chinese and German enterprises.

This new production line is set to enhance cost-effectiveness and profitability, further strengthening Senior Technology Material’s global leadership in the separator industry.
